Sponsors are encouraged to write to their sponsored child often. 

For an orphaned child to receive a letter is a treasure.  

It is through letter writing that a child feels cared for, encouraged, and loved.

 Here are some helpful tips on writing letters to your child:

1. Please keep your letter simple and no longer than one page in length.

• Ask “getting to know you” questions such as, “What is your favorite…”
• ·         Color?
• ·         Food?
• ·         Subject in school?
• ·         Tell us about your best friend?

1. Focus on one topic for each letter.  For example, this month perhaps focus on a family member.  Next month, talk about a pet.  What is your own favorite food?
3. If you plan to send your letter with a package, perhaps include a post card of the area where you live and a photograph of your family.

 When submitting your letters in English for translation:  

_{Please write and save your letter using Microsoft Word.}

_{Please use 12 pt Times New Roman font.}

_{Use simple sentences and basic vocabulary.}

_{Please keep each letter length to one page.  One page is the ideal length for the children’s reading ability and attention span.  If you have more to write please spread the news over several letters.  Shorter letters are also preferred for our volunteer translators.}
